European stock markets steady at open

Europe's leading stock markets steadied at the start of trading on Friday, as investors awaited next week's crucial interest-rate decision from the US Federal Reserve.

London's benchmark FTSE 100 index rose 0.1 percent to 7,608.13 points.

In the eurozone, Frankfurt's DAX index fell 0.1 percent to 15,976.67 points and the Paris CAC 40 won 0.1 percent to 7,225.90.
